Financing Climate Change: the Complicity of Big Banks in the Climate Crisis

I was inspired to write this story after reading a New Yorker piece by Bill McKibben, who wrote about the movement by climate activists to stop banks from funding the fossil fuel industry—starving it of cash for exploration. “Money is the oxygen on which the fire of global warming burns,” McKibben says. My story for Outdoor Retailer examines this issue through the lens of the outdoor and ski industries, and asks the question: Is your bank financing climate change?
